Dear Friends,
It was a cold February morning on top of
the beautiful Mountains of Southern Oregon; two feet of powdered
snow covered the dangerous ice, which lurked below. Unknowing
how this event would have one of the most positive impacts
on my life and on the lives of others, I skied off down the
slope. However, before I tell you this story, let me explain
the photos in this letter. That's me, the guy on the right,
the one who endured the unintentional quadruple back flip.
The other person in the picture is Tiffany;
that's my little girl, the love of my life! I'll touch more
on this bundle of love in just a moment.

As I was skiing and making a turn with all honest
hopes that others would see me, I skidded on the ice below the snow.
Immediately, I shot upwards like a rocket, which culminated into
an unintended quadruple back flip that ended with me landing on
my neck.
I felt terrible, and I struggled to walk and work,
something which I had taken for granted my entire life. As an electrician
I need my mobility and freedom from pain to perform the functions
and requirements of my job. My livelihood was soon to become threatened.
Six months after the injury, feeling dazed and
in a fog, in addition to headaches and the pain in my neck, my arms
went numb, and terror rained in. Also, my relationships with family,
friends, and my boss were strained because I felt so tired, drained,
and moody from the physical pain. I knew that I had to do something,
but what? I promised that if I ever got better that I would help
others to get better. One might say that I made a pact with God.

Then It happened. My neighbor,
across the street was a chiropractor. He saw me come home one
afternoon and asked how I was doing. He told me that he believed
that he could help me. However, I was afraid to see him, due
to my preconceived, stereotyped assumptions of chiropractors.

With the feeling that I had nothing to lose, I
made my first appointment. The chiropractor did a thorough exam,
and then "adjusted" my spine. The adjustment didn't hurt,
it actually felt good.
After the first visit, the feelings in my arms began to return.
By the third visit, the headaches disappeared. After my sixth visit,
I could walk much better. A month later, the chiropractor, Dr. Colwell
said to me, "You have great hands, and you would make an excellent
chiropractor." I was moved to tears. Not only had this fellow
helped me to restore my ability to function in the world, but, he
saw something special inside of me. He saw that I had gifts and
talents that I was unaware of in that moment. He saw something that
I had not yet seen.
And now about Tiffany. When she was learning to
walk, she had a back issue. In 5 chiropractic visits, her back problem
was cleared up forever. I'm sure now you can see why chiropractic
has had such an enormous impact on my life and the lives of those
I love. Now, I adjust her once every two months, and she has a far
better spine than I ever had. She's rarely ever sick. She has an
excellent nervous system and all this shows up in her self-esteem.
It's amazing how life is, because now my patients
bring their sons and daughters. People come to see me for: headaches,
migraines, chronic pain, neck, back arm or leg issues, car accidents,
work related injuries, numbness in the limbs and athletic injuries….
just to name a few.
